Introducing BackupBuddy.Net
Things have been quiet here lately as we've been working very hard on our next generation of mobile backup technology. Well today, we're very excited to be able to share with you what's been keeping us so busy: BackupBuddy.Net.

BackupBuddy.Net allows you to wireless backup their your Treo smartphone over the Internet to one of our servers. It is extremely secure: all your data is encrypted end-to-end (with AES encryption) and stored in an encrypted form - we absolutely cannot access your data, and we don't even store your password. It is also extremely fast: your data as highly compressed as it is being sent over the air and device backups (and restores) happen quickly so as to not slow you down when you're on-the-go.

One of the features that we think is super-sexy is our Trickle BackupTM feature. Trickle Backup allows BackupBuddy.Net to transparently and continuously backup all your files to our server when you're not actively using your Treo. It is designed to stay completely out of your way and not interfere with the use of your Treo.

Our initial release of BackupBuddy.Net backs up only essential PIM files: Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Memos. A subsequent release (Professional Edition) will add backup of the entire device. BackupBuddy.Net is a subscription service - pricing has yet to be determined.

If you'd go ahead and see what's got us so excited, please download the beta - the on-screen wizard will guide you through creating an account which takes less than a minute. Then head on over to our discussion forums. You may also be interested in answers to frequently asked questions.

Please note that BackupBuddy.Net is currently in beta, and although we have been privately testing it for several months with a closed group of beta testers, that data loss is always a possibility, although this has not yet happen. Finally we should mention that the BackupBuddy.Net server cluster is currently being housed in our development offices; we will be moving it to data center during the next couple of weeks during which time their will be a temporary service outage. So you may want to have an alternative backup available, such as BackupBuddyVFS and/or BackupBuddy for Windows and Mac OS X.
