Blue Nomad Unveils its Latest Generation of Backup Applications for Palm Powered Handhelds at PalmSource Conference & Expo

San Jose, California (February 5, 2002).   At the PalmSource® Conference & Expo, the annual gathering of the Palm Economy, Blue Nomad, LLC announced today the release of new versions of BackupBuddy®, BackupBuddyVFS™ and BackupBuddyVFS:Free™.  The new versions of these popular backup utilities include features that take advantage of the external memory cards of organizers that support the Virtual File System (“VFS”), such as the Palm m500, Palm m505, Palm i705 and the Sony Clie™. 

Blue Nomad is the only company to provide a complete and secure backup solution for Palm Powered™ devices. The following is an overview of these backup applications and their new VFS features:

BackupBuddy, the award winning and industry standard backup solution for Palm Powered™ devices, adds support for the backup of VFS volumes with version 1.5 (Windows only).  BackupBuddy provides a full backup of your organizer and supported external memory cards to your desktop computer.  In the event of data loss or loss of the organizer or card itself, your data is safe on your PC and can be easily restored using BackupBuddy.    

BackupBuddyVFS is the latest in backup technology from the developer of BackupBuddy. BackupBuddyVFS enables users to effortlessly backup their organizer’s contents to and restore from Secure Digital and MultiMedia expansion cards and Memory Sticks® that make these new devices so compelling.  In the event of total loss of data, mobile users can rely on BackupBuddyVFS to restore their critical files from the expansion card.  As a result, mobile users no longer need to wait until they have access to a Hotsync cradle or modem to backup or restore their data.  In addition, with version 2.0, customers can now encrypt their backup files.  Thus, in the event the card is lost or stolen, a user can rest assured that their data is secure.  BackupBuddyVFS:Free is the free, limited version of BackupBuddyVFS.
